Joey Soares Floriano

|
Joey Floriano was born in Rosais, Sáo Jorge
(English pronunciation: St. George), Portugal (one of the 9 Açores
(English pronunciation: Azores) Islands off of the banks of Lisbon
Portugal) in 1961. to Joe M Floriano and Teresa Soares Floriano.
During his life in Portugal he sustained illnesses. He had a bout
of Gout. The doctors there at that time did not have an idea of
what his illness was and contemplated removing his foot. But
miraculously his pains went away and they left his foot be (this was
later diagnosed by doctors in the US as Gout). He also went
through a period of time where he could not speak this too seemed to be
a mystery but he again for some reason without an idea of the causes of
his muteness started talking again about a year later (maybe
psychological reasons for his muteness, it just was never
determined). He played soccer there as a child and loved the
game. He lived there until he was 12 years old. He then
along with his older brother Danny and father Joe went to the United
States to work. His mother Teresa, younger brother Simon and
sister Rosie stayed in Portugal to care for Teresa's ailing father
Domingos. Joe went back to Portugal with his wife and other
children and they would later come 2 1/2 years later to join their sons
in the US after the death of Teresa's father Domingos. They would
also be joined by Teresa's mother Maria. Joey worked for his
uncles on a Dairy in Merced, CA starting at the age of 12. He
worked outside driving tractors and truck-trailer rigs ( his favorite
thing to do, as he hated milking the cows). |
In 1978 he met Darlene Litke at a dance at Buhach Hall, a favorite
place for older teens to go to dance every Saturday night. They
met a few time there but then Darlene moved to another town but later
they would meet again....

Darlene Louise (Litke) Floriano

|
Darlene was born in Inglewood, CA (Where the
famous Los Angeles Lakers Basketball team's stadium is) in 1964.
She was born to James Allen Like and Margaret Louise (Blanchard)
Litke. They along with her older sister Karen, lived in Southern
California for her first 7 years. Then in 1971 her father and
mother moved the family to Merced, CA for work. Soon after her
father and mother separated and divorced. She lived in Merced
with her mother and sister until the summer of 1979. She then
moved to Groveland, CA to live with her father and step-mother at the
time DeDee. She wanted to spend time some equal with her
father. That only lasted about a year and a half. Relations
with her step-mother were strained. Darlene then decided to move
back to Merced with her mother and sister. |
| Not long after her move back she met Joey
Floriano again. They from that time on in January of 1981 went
steady. On July 30, 1983 Joey and Darlene married. They
stayed living in Merced while Joey worked on the dairy farm where his
uncles owned and operated. In 1985 Joey and Darlene had their
first child a daughter, Jennafer Louise Floriano, in 1991 they had
their second child Dominic. in 1993 Joey's father Joe retired
from the same dairy farm and so they moved into the two-story house
Joey had loved living in and grew up in as a teenager. In 1995
however Joey and Darlene would experience a separation and then
divorce. During their period of separation Joey and Darlene
contemplated reconciliation, it was a very strained time in their
lives. During their courtship Joey sustained a back injury that
would render him unable to work again. Joey and Darlene did
reconcile and remarry in December 1996. From October of 1966 thru
March 1997, Darlene worked for her step-brother in law for his tree
service doing special interest projects and mastering their web
site. She needed something more substantial and with a future for
her and her family. Unable to find good paying work locally she
sought employment in Albuquerque, New Mexico where her sister and her
sisters family lived. She accepted a position there with an
Internet Service Provider as a General Manager of their Albuquerque
node. In 1998 Darlene had their third child Gabriel. After
almost 2 years with the ISP and long hours she found herself mentally
exhausted and needing more time with her family. She accepted an office
managers job with a customer that had been asking her to go to work for
them for some time. She loved the work very much and came with
that job great friends. She liked working in the Food Marketing
and Manufacturing industry. Unfortunately Joey's injuries have
left him a lot of pain which meant frequent trips to the hospital were
becoming the norm. So they decided they needed to move back to
California where they had more family support around them.
Darlene took work with a DOT COM company in Fresno, California
and so they found a house in Madera, and settled there. After 7
months the DOT COM (like so many others in this day in age) went out of
business. Darlene did find her way back in her favorite industry (Food
Manufacturing), and was a manager at an Olive Cannery in Madera. She since
has moved on. She worked for a foodservice food broker which lead
her to her current position as the Western Regional Sales Manager of the
worlds largest Egg Packer. |
